GAME THEORY
AND
GAME PLAYING
AND
GAME PLAYING
Game Theory has been of fundamental value in the fields of computer science and artificial intelligence. Some of the applications to transactional, security and network protocols have their roots in ancient games; and even the implementation of certain workflow synchronization control, as in multithreaded programming, are actually based on such games.
First
there are three important issues to introduce, namely:
•
The term game theory corresponds to an interaction involving decision
makers or players who are rational and intelligent.
•
The rationality of a player implies that the player chooses his
strategies to maximize his payoff.
•
Intelligence means that players are capable enough to compute their best
strategies.
In
this presentation, I would like to introduce general Game Theory with focus on
both zero-sum and non-zero sum games and their mechanism design, but I shall
also provide some input on the notion of Nash Equilibrium and a historic
framework in game theory and game playing.
